Frequently Asked Questions
Q.        How far before my wedding date should I make my first alteration appointment?

A.        For general wedding gown alterations 8-12 weeks before your wedding is recommended.  For bridesmaids and mothers dresses 4-8 weeks is
recommended.  The amount of time needed to do the alterations and have successive fittings will depend on the extent of the alterations needed.  Also the
time of year will be a factor.  High bridal season is April-September.  Plan accordingly.

Q.
What should I bring with me to my gown fittings?

A.        Basically everything you are going to wear under the gown.  From shoes to petticoats to bustiers and bras.  Shoes and petticoats (if worn) are a must
for hemming.  The proper undergarments will insure the  proper fit.  If any of these items change the dress may not fit correctly and further alterations may
be needed which means further expense to you.

Q.
Who should come with me to my fittings?

A.        It is best if you bring one or two trusted friends or relatives. Someone who's opinion you feel comfortable with.  Having too many people at your
fittings can add to the excitement but, it can also add to the confusion.

Q.
How many fittings will I need?

A.        You will need a minimum of 2.  Some gowns may take several fittings. Gowns that have to be resized can sometimes take a few more.  Sometimes
one part of the gown needs to be done before the next part can be altered.

Q.
How much will my alterations cost?

A.        A very common and a very hard to answer question.  Without seeing the bride in the gown and determining what should be done to the gown, it is
impossible to give an accurate quote.  Two gowns that are similar in design but that are made by two different designers  may have completely different
construction.  Therefore the costs may vey different for similar alterations due to the original construction of the gown and the time needed to do the
alteration.  Price estimates can be given at the first fitting.
